What is Vegetation?

Vegetation is a group of plants growing together in a particular habitat or environment and possessing a certain general physical appearance. The physical appearance arises from the relative proportions of the different species and the way in which the different species of plants are arranged horizontally and vertically in space.

It is the spatial arrangement of the different plant species or life-forms. The three main plant life forms are trees, shrubs and herbs. The different plants growing together in a particular area constitute a plant community which implies the following important properties:
1. the plants are grown together in the same place or environment;
2. the community has a recognisable composition and structure and
3. the community is alive and functioning by interacting with different plants and be physical environment.
