Running Water Movement

Running water is the movement of any mass of water over the surface of the earth, it may be in the form of streams, rivers or surface runoff during rainfall. Its source can be:

1. The melted water of glaciers, e.g. the Rhone in France;

2. A lake, e.g. the Nile has its source from Lake Victoria;

3. A spring, e.g. The Thames in England;

Running water may finally discharges into:

The sea, e.g. the Niger discharges its water into the Atlantic Ocean.

A lake, e.g. the Rivers Hadejia and Yedseram are among the several rivers discharging their water into Lake Chad.

Running water does three types of work: it erodes, it transports and it deposits.
